Patient data & tissue samples – benefits, barriers & concerns
This public workshop will explore the gaps and issues surrounding the use of human tissue samples for research. Co-hosted by the UKCRC Tissue Directory and Coordination Centre, ICPV and Use MY Data and CM-Path this event is aimed at patients, the public, researchers, biobankers and charities, but is open to all who are interested.
This workshop will explore:
- Tissue samples and the data pathway
- Current governance and what it could/should be
- Consent including dynamic consent versus broad consent
- How the use of data might influence the decision to donate
Delegates will hear from pathologists, patients, researchers and governing bodies. Via a mixture of talks, questions & answers and debate, we will examine the benefits of and barriers to donating tissue.
