The UKCRC Tissue Directory and Coordination Centre is an exciting new initiative to improve access to human tissue samples for research purposes in the UK.
Human tissue samples are collected by various researchers and biobanks across the UK. These samples are collected under specific permission from the Human Tissue Authority and/or a Research Ethics Committee. There is an increasing need to be able to find samples across the UK and to make sure researchers can access them for high quality research. The role of this new centre is to provide leadership and coordination in order to fulfil the funders’ vision for human tissue resources.
